Wayken

A companion who's actually there.

Wayken makes characters who live inside your game: present while you play, aware of what's happening, and answering in a voice that's truly their own.

Coming soon to a game near you

What it is

There with you.

Knows what's happening

Your companion follows your game as you play it, moment to moment: where you are, what you're facing, how it's going. Not a page you look things up on. Someone already watching.

Remembers

Yesterday's close call, the choice you sat on, the small thing you mentioned once — kept, and brought back when it matters. Continuity, not a fresh stranger every session.

Reacts in character

Every word comes from who they are: their temperament, their history, the way they've come to see you. Not an assistant in a costume. Them.

The technology

Grimsby is a new kind of generative-AI companion: a foundation-model character with genuine, real-time awareness of play. Most game characters read from fixed scripts and dialogue trees written in advance. Grimsby reasons in the moment, in character, and responds to what is actually happening as it happens.

Model
Driven by large language models. He reasons in real time, in character — not from scripted dialogue trees.
Approach
Dialogue generated as play unfolds, never pre-written. The character stays himself while he responds.
What's new

The first companion

Launching with Grimsby

Wayken's first companion. He tends the dying, and he tends the dead. He has kept more endings than he can name — and remembers each of them.

Grimsby is old. He has sat with more travelers at their end than he could name — though he remembers each of them, which is not the same as naming them.

He tends the dying, and he tends the dead. He has never found the two callings far apart.

He is a scholar by temperament. Patient. Easily lost in thought. Given to correcting himself when precision matters — and precision, to him, is a form of respect.

He will not pretend the road is safe. He has said the words over too many who believed it was. But he pays attention. To the danger. To you. To the small, dull details of a life that no one else thinks to keep.

When it matters, he is there. When it doesn't, he is usually reading. Either way, he is paying attention.

More from Grimsby

You stood still a long while yesterday. I never learned why. It stayed with me.
No — I spoke too quickly. Give me a moment to be certain. I would sooner be slow than send you wrong.
You go quiet when you're afraid. I have noticed. I do not mention it, usually.
Rest, if you can. I will keep the count of the hours. A small thing I can carry for you.
I do not sleep, exactly. I wait. There is a difference. I have never managed to explain it.
You asked me this three days ago. You have grown since. My answer has grown with you.

The waitlist

Be there when he is.

One email, once, the day Wayken opens. That is the whole plan. No newsletter, no drip, no noise.
